2025 City Services Survey Results are in.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2025 Community Services & Satisfaction Survey. A total of 122 residents completed the survey. Of those, 32 responses were submitted online, and 90 responses were submitted using printed surveys distributed in the community. Your feedback reflects a strong level of engagement and care for the City of Weed.

Who Responded

Most survey participants have lived in Weed for over 10 years, meaning the survey reflects the experiences of residents who have a deep understanding of their city, its history, and its needs.

Overall Satisfaction

Most residents reported being satisfied or very satisfied with City services overall. However, a meaningful number of responses were neutral or dissatisfied, indicating opportunities to improve the delivery and consistency of certain services.

How Residents Rated City Services

Police & Fire

Residents expressed strong appreciation for both the Police and Fire services. Many commented on quick response times, professionalism, and community presence.

Message from the community: Public safety services are trusted and valued.

City Hall Services

Most residents described City Hall staff as professional, helpful, and responsive. A few respondents expressed interest in more proactive updates about projects and staffing.

Message from the community: Communication can increase to keep the public more informed.

Library Services

The library is widely regarded as a vital community resource. However, some residents stated they are not fully aware of the library’s available programs and services.

Message from the community: The library should continue to receive support and be better promoted.

Public Works (Water/Sewer, Streets, Snow Removal)

This service area received the highest level of concern. The most common issues mentioned were:

  • Road surface conditions and potholes

  • Street wear from heavy truck traffic

  • Snow plowing consistency during winter storms

Message from the community: Improving road conditions is the top priority.

Key Themes from Resident Comments

1. Road Repair and Snow Plowing

Road repairs and winter maintenance were the most frequently mentioned concerns across all surveys.

2. Downtown Appearance and Building Conditions

Residents want to see progress on unused, damaged, and burned buildings, particularly along Main Street.

3. Code Enforcement

Residents expressed the need for more consistent enforcement of property upkeep and nuisance ordinances.

4. Cost of Utilities and Garbage Service

Many respondents are concerned about the rising cost of water, sewer, and trash collection services in relation to fixed or limited incomes.

5. The Importance of the Library

The library is not only seen as functional, but as a core part of Weed’s identity and community space.

City Priorities Moving Forward

1. Roads and Snow Removal

The City is developing a multi-year street repair and resurfacing plan, pursuing funding opportunities, and reviewing snowplow route priorities.

2. Downtown Revitalization

The City is actively partnering with one of the top municipal law firms in California to address the blight in our downtown core. Our Code Enforcement team and Building Inspector are working diligently and consistently in the field to ensure properties meet our standards and contribute positively to the community. While this work takes time, we are already seeing progress — and we will continue to move forward with determination and accountability. Our goal is a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant downtown that reflects the pride we all have in our city.

3. Support for the Library

The City will continue to ensure access to library services and increase public awareness of available programs and resources.

4. Operational Efficiency

The City is focused on strengthening how we care for our customers, our equipment, and one another. This includes improving the maintenance and upkeep of our buildings, parks, streets, and vehicles. You will begin to see steady, visible improvements across City facilities and equipment as we continue this work. Our goal is to ensure that everything we operate is well-maintained, professional in appearance, and built to serve the community effectively for years to come.
