The City of Weed Fire Department Suspends Burn Permits Within the City of Weed Local Responsibility Area (LRA) or Boundaries.

Weed, Ca- According to the Cal-Fire Siskiyou Unit “California has seen a wet winter with above average snowpack statewide.  Despite this moisture, we have already seen large fires this year due to an abundance of fine grass crop and other vegetation”.

Armed with this information which poses an increase in fire danger, the City of Weed Fire Department suspends all burn permits for outdoor residential burning in the Weed responsibility area effective 08:00 June 17, 2024.

Here are some tips to help prepare your home and property:

·         Clear all dead or dying vegetation 100 feet from around all structures.

·         Landscape with fire-resistant plants and non-flammable ground cover.

·         Find alternative ways to dispose of landscape debris like chipping or hauling it to a biomass energy or green waste facility.

·         Campfires can be allowed with a valid permit obtained at www.ReadyForWilfire.org.
