SUBJ: Weekly Report
The
following is a list of some of my activities during this past week and the
status of certain projects. You are
invited to contact me for any further information.
Library – An MOU was received from the County regarding the conditions
of keeping the Weed branch of the library system open for the remainder of the
year. The Weed Friends of the Library
made a donation to the City to provide the funding amount along with that
authorized by you to enable payment to the County for the Library staffing of
the branch. The MOU has been signed and
returned to the County for their signature.
Attached is an update on the library system in the County.
Business Contacts – The staff has been working with a potential new small
industrial type business to locate in Weed.
The preliminary work is now in process for the architectural and CEQA
review and water and sewer connections.
A lot line adjustment will be required for the sale of the land. The staff also received word this week of the
retirement of the owner of Country Drug and related closing of the store. The staff is seeking through various means to
have a similar type retail business locate here. The staff also met this week with one of the
business owners who was not the lowest bidder and consequently did not get the
bid award for the pavers. He provided
background on past service to the community.
The staff discussed how the legal requirements were followed to award
the bid.
Carnevale – The Carnevale was held this past weekend. Follow-up discussion with the staff indicated
the event was again successful and no unusual incidents over past years were
reported.
